Story
Synopsis
Ash Ketchum and his friends attend a historical festival at Cameron Palace in the Kanto region, where Ash wins an exhibition tournament and is awarded the honorary staff of the legendary Aura Guardian Sir Aaron. During the celebration, the staff unseals Lucario, Aaron's ancient Pokemon companion who was imprisoned within the relic centuries ago during a devastating war. Confused and bitter, Lucario believes Aaron callously betrayed him. When playful mythical Pokemon Mew kidnaps Pikachu and transports him to the living Tree of Beginning, Ash and Lucario must forge a reluctant partnership.

Ash and Lucario traverse the Tree of Beginning, where the tree's immune antibodies begin consuming the humans. Lucario and Mew sacrifice their energy to save Ash and Pikachu. Lucario uncovers a time-flower projection revealing that Sir Aaron did not betray him; Aaron sealed Lucario inside the staff to prevent him from dying when Aaron sacrificed his own life-force to pacify the ancient war. Realizing Aaron's deep love, Lucario channels all his remaining Aura alongside Mew to save the dying tree. Lucario dies peacefully, reuniting with Aaron's spirit in the afterlife.
