Pokemon Anime Watch Order: From Ash to Horizons, every series, in order
“Every main Pokemon anime series in release order, from Indigo League to Horizons.”
Pokemon is the easiest watch order on this site and also the most intimidating, because the show just keeps going. The trick is to stop thinking of it as one show. Think of it as a road trip: new region, new friends, same Ash.
So the order is release order. The original series (Kanto, the Orange Islands and Johto), Advanced Generation, Diamond & Pearl, Best Wishes, XY and XY&Z, Sun & Moon, Journeys, then Horizons. Each series is a fresh adventure that mostly stands on its own, so you can drop in almost anywhere and not get lost. Do you need to watch all of it? Answer: no. Nobody's checking.
Ash is the lead from the original series all the way through Journeys, and his story wraps up there. If Ash is the only reason you're here, Journeys is your finish line. Horizons starts a new story with new lead characters, Liko and Roy, and you can start it fresh without having seen anything before it.
This guide covers the main TV series only. Movies, short specials and side projects like Pokemon Concierge are left out.
At the end: pick a region, press play, and don't feel guilty about skipping.
Ash's early journeys
Where it all starts: Ash's travels through Kanto, the Orange Islands and Johto.
This one entry covers several seasons (Indigo League, the Orange Islands and Johto), so it's the longest watch on the page. If that's too much, start with Advanced Generation instead. Each series stands mostly on its own.
Unova and Kalos
The Unova region. Part of the Best Wishes run, which began with a first season.
Final stretch of the Unova story.
Alola and beyond
Ash and Goh travel across all regions. Ash's story concludes here.
Journeys is the series that wraps up Ash's story, so it's the natural endpoint if Ash is the only reason you're watching.
