Synopsis

When a shard of the shattered Sacred Jewel unseals the ancient moth demon Menomaru, son of the defeated demon lord Hyoga, he seeks vengeance against the bloodline of InuYasha's father, who sealed Hyoga centuries ago in the sacred Tree of Ages. Menomaru and his demonic kunoichi servants ambush InuYasha, Kagome Higurashi, Miroku, Sango, and Shippo, cursing Kagome with mind-controlling spider thread and transforming her into a puppet. Menomaru uses the Tessaiga's demonic power to unseal Hyoga's ancient demonic energy, threatening to swallow feudal Japan in an eternal eclipse of demonic moths.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Menomaru forces a possessed Kagome to shoot InuYasha through the chest with a sacred arrow, pinning him to the Tree of Ages and banishing Kagome back to modern-day Tokyo through the Bone Eater's Well. Refusing to abandon their cross-temporal bond, Kagome connects emotionally with InuYasha through the ancient sacred tree, returning to the feudal era. Kagome shoots a sacred arrow that disrupts Menomaru's invulnerability, allowing InuYasha to execute the supreme Backlash Wave (Bakuryuha). Menomaru is disintegrated, saving the era as InuYasha and Kagome reaffirm their timeless affection for one another.
