Biography
Tokuyuki Matsutake is a Japanese character designer and animator affiliated with the animation studio Silver, known for prioritizing dynamic movement over static, decorative artwork [1]. Born July 29, 1967, he trained under animator Atsuko Nakajima and has frequently worked alongside fellow animator Hirofumi Suzuki over the course of his career [1]. Matsutake has been attached to the Tales role-playing game series' animated adaptations since the franchise's first entry, Tales of Destiny, in 1997, contributing character design and animation direction on later installments including the Tales of Vesperia theatrical film; in a 2011 interview he agreed that the franchise had effectively become his life's work [1]. His broader filmography includes character design and animation direction on Medabots and Naruto, credited opening-sequence animation for Naruto: Shippuden, Black Lagoon, and Noragami, and episode work on titles such as Turn A Gundam, Blue Dragon, and Fate/stay night [1].
