Story

Synopsis

Ash, Dawn and Brock arrive at the ancient Michina Town just as Dialga, Palkia and Giratina are fighting nearby. The clash has awakened Arceus, the Pokémon said to have created the world. Long ago Arceus lent a fragment of its power to the town as the Jewel of Life, and it was betrayed when the time came to give it back. Sheena, a descendant of the man who first received the jewel, tries to return it, but the jewel turns out to be a fake. To put things right, Ash and his friends have to travel back in time and find the real one.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life is the twelfth Pokémon film, produced by OLM and directed by Kunihiko Yuyama from a screenplay by Hideki Sonoda. It closes the trilogy of films built around Dialga, Palkia and Giratina, and it introduces Arceus. Yuyama has said that Arceus stands for nature and the Jewel of Life for the Sun, and that he wanted viewers to think about how essential the natural world is to all life. Shinji Miyazaki composed the music and Yoichi Kotabe supervised the animation. The film opened in Japan in July 2009, and Viz Media released it on home video in the US in 2011.
