Story

Synopsis

Team 7, consisting of Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno, and Rock Lee under the guidance of Kakashi Hatake, takes on an escort mission to guard Prince Michiru and his spoiled young son Hikaru back to the affluent Crescent Moon Island. During their lavish journey, the eccentric royals even purchase an entire traveling circus, complete with exotic wild animals. However, upon arriving in their island paradise, the squad discovers that a violent military coup led by corrupt minister Shabadaba and rogue mercenaries has usurped the throne. Naruto must inspire young Hikaru to discover true courage and liberate the kingdom.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Written and directed by Toshiyuki Tsuru, *Naruto the Movie 3: Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom* was released in Japanese theaters in August 2006 as the third feature film in the franchise. Animated by Studio Pierrot, the film stands out for Tsuru's distinctive cinematic visual direction, expressive character acting, and breathtaking fluid taijutsu combat sequences. Featuring the theme song Tsubomi by Maria, the movie earned widespread praise from animation enthusiasts for its masterclass sakuga cuts and emotional coming-of-age narrative.
