Story

Synopsis

Arsene Lupin III finds his criminal reputation hijacked when a cunning cybernetic criminal syndicate abducts him, forcing him to steal a priceless gem known as the Bull Eye. During the chaotic heist, Lupin encounters Becky, an audacious teenage cat burglar who proudly sports a swallowtail butterfly tattoo identical to one worn by Lupin former lover. Claiming that Lupin might be her biological father, Becky joins the gang, throwing their usual dynamic into total disarray. As rival criminal factions close in, Lupin must protect the spirited girl while evading Inspector Zenigata relentless dragnet.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Premiering in July 2004 on Nippon TV Friday Roadshow, *Lupin III: Swallowtail Tattoo* was produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsha and directed by Hidehito Ueda. The television special introduced an emotional paternal dynamic to the long-running series, pairing Lupin with a witty young protege who challenges his roguish bachelor lifestyle. Anchored by expressive character animation, thrilling rooftop pursuits across European cities, and a lively jazz soundtrack composed by Yuji Ohno, the film delivered a charming mix of heartfelt family mystery and classic heist action.
