Yowamushi Pedal Watch Order: Seasons 1-5, the Movies and Recaps in Order, in order
“Every Yowamushi Pedal season, movie and special in release order, with the recap films flagged.”
Sakamichi Onoda used to pedal 45 kilometers to Akihabara every week for anime. Your watch order requires considerably less cardio. There are 12 titles on Lifehaki, and release order is the order.
Five TV seasons carry the story: Yowamushi Pedal (2013), Grande Road (2014), New Generation (2017), Glory Line (2018) and Limit Break (2022 to 2023). The movies are where it gets a little confusing. Re:RIDE, Re:Road and Re:Generation are compilation films that retell races you've already seen in the TV seasons, so they're skippable. The Movie and Spare Bike are different: they tell new stories, so they're optional extras worth watching.
What's the quick way to tell them apart? Answer: if the title starts with "Re:", it's a recap. Think of the recaps as pit stops. You can skip them without losing the race. The Special Ride OVA and the Chiba Pedal safety clips are small extras that you can skip as well.
At the end: the five TV seasons in order, with the two story films wherever you like.
Season 1 (2013-2014)
A 20-minute OVA from August 2013, released before Season 1.
Start here. Sakamichi Onoda, an anime fan, joins Sohoku's bicycle racing club. 38 episodes, 2013 to 2014.
A 1 hour 28 minute recap film of Season 1's Inter-High races, from September 2014.
Re:RIDE and Re:Road are compilation films that retell races from the TV seasons, with some new framing scenes. If you've watched the TV seasons, you can skip them.
Grande Road and the films (2014-2016)
Direct continuation of Season 1. 24 episodes, fall 2014 to spring 2015.
A 1 hour 29 minute recap film of the Inter-High races, from June 2015.
An original film from August 2015, set at the Kumamoto mountain race after the Inter-High.
Unlike the Re: films, this one tells a new story. It fits after Grande Road.
Six 1-minute bicycle safety clips from 2016.
A 1 hour prequel film from September 2016 about Makishima and Todo.
New Generation and beyond (2017-2023)
A 1 hour 30 minute compilation of Season 3 with some new scenes, from October 2017.
Re:Generation is another compilation film, this time of New Generation, so it's safe to skip if you've watched Season 3.
