Bungo Stray Dogs Watch Order: Seasons 1-5, the Complete List, in order
“Every Bungo Stray Dogs season, film and spin-off in release order, with the chibi comedies flagged as skippable.”
Atsushi Nakajima gets thrown out of an orphanage, joins a detective agency and becomes the Port Mafia's favorite target, all before the first season is over. Your watch order, thankfully, is much calmer. There are nine titles on Lifehaki, and release order is the order.
Five TV seasons carry the story: Season 1 and Season 2 in 2016, Season 3 in 2019, and Seasons 4 and 5 in 2023. In between sit two optional extras: the Walking Alone OVA from 2017 and the Dead Apple film from 2018. So do you need the film? Answer: no. Dead Apple is an original story set inside the main continuity, so the TV seasons don't depend on it. It's a good one, though.
Then there's Wan!, a chibi comedy spin-off with two seasons (2021 and 2026) in 11-minute episodes. It has no story, so it's skippable. Think of it as the office party after a very long case.
At the end: Seasons 1 to 5 in order, with Dead Apple and the OVA if you want more.
Seasons 1 and 2 (2016-2017)
Start here. Atsushi Nakajima joins the Armed Detective Agency and gets hunted by the Port Mafia. 12 episodes, spring 2016.
Dead Apple and Season 3 (2018-2019)
An original-story film in which abilities turn on their own users. 1 hour 30 minutes, March 2018.
Dead Apple is an original story set inside the main continuity rather than an adaptation of existing chapters, so the TV seasons don't depend on it.
Wan! and the later seasons (2021-2026)
A chibi comedy spin-off. 12 short episodes, winter 2021.
Wan! is adapted from a web manga and turns the cast into chibi characters for slapstick comedy. It has no story, so it's safe to skip.
The second chibi comedy season. 12 short episodes, July to September 2026.
