Synopsis

At Kaimei High School, the campus Support, Kindness, Encouragement, and Troubleshoot club, known simply as the Sket Dan, dedicates itself to resolving any problem brought by students or faculty. Led by the charismatic slingshot-wielding Bossun, alongside fierce ex-delinquent Himeko and silent laptop-typing intellectual Switch, the trio handles tasks ranging from recovering lost pets to mending fractured friendships. While their unconventional methods frequently spiral into manic slapstick misunderstandings, genuine empathy underpins their efforts. Facing eccentric classmates, rival student council members, and personal past traumas, the Sket Dan proves that small everyday acts of goodwill create lasting bonds.

Background (may contain spoilers)

Produced by Tatsunoko Production, the 2011 television anime *SKET Dance* was directed by Keiichiro Kawaguchi and based on Kenta Shinohara's Shonen Jump manga. Spanning seventy-seven episodes, the series earned strong admiration for balancing rapid-fire comedic absurdity with poignant character backstories. The adaptation famously featured a crossover episode with Hideaki Sorachi's Gintama, reflecting Shinohara's former role as Sorachi's assistant. Broadcast from April 2011 to September 2012, the show remains a fondly remembered high school comedy celebrated for its heart, inventive humor, and expressive vocal performances.

“Inventive, diverting, and often hilarious, with a huge cast of eccentric characters, but the language/culture-specific jokes mostly whizzed right past me.”
