Synopsis
Amid the grueling tropical jungle warfare of the One Year War, Earth Federation Ensign Shiro Amada leads the mechanized 08th MS Team against Zeon stronghold fortifications. Following a perilous Himalayan engagement with an experimental Zeon mobile armor, Shiro miraculously returns to base after disappearing for days. Suspecting foul play, Federation command dispatches skeptical military investigator Alice Miller to interrogate Shiro regarding his unaccounted absence. As Miller probes Shiro's testimony, she uncovers his forbidden romantic bond with Zeon pilot Aina Sahalin. Faced with court-martial and execution for treason, Shiro must defend his moral convictions without compromising his frontline squad.

Directed by Kazuyoshi Takeuchi and produced by Sunrise, *Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team - Miller's Report* premiered in Japanese theaters in August 1998 as a cinematic companion feature to the acclaimed OVA series. Released between episodes eight and nine, the film compiles key combat sequences while introducing crucial new animation framing Alice Miller's rigorous interrogation. Celebrated by mecha enthusiasts for its gritty, grounded portrayal of infantry mobile suit combat and complex wartime psychology, the production bridged the narrative gap left by the passing of original OVA director Takeyuki Kanda.
