Synopsis

In After Colony 196, one year following the resolution of the catastrophic Eve Wars, Earth and the space colonies have formally dismantled their military armaments under the newly established Earth Sphere Unified Nation. Believing true peace has arrived, the four Gundam pilots send their legendary mobile suits into the sun for permanent destruction. Their hard-won tranquility shatters when seven-year-old Mariemaia Khushrenada, backed by a rogue military faction led by former Treize loyalist Dekim Barton, kidnaps diplomat Relena Peacecraft and launches a surprise planetary coup. Heero Yuy and his fellow pilots must retrieve their weapons of war to prevent another despotic regime from rising.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Heero Yuy intercepts his winged Wing Zero before it enters the sun and descends toward Earth to confront the Barton rebellion. Dekim Barton barricades his command bunker beneath Brussels, but Heero fires three point-blank Twin Buster Rifle shots directly into the fortified blast shelter. Wing Zero collapses from structural fatigue, but the assault shatters the bunker ceiling, exposing Dekim. When Dekim attempts to murder Relena, one of his own disillusioned soldiers shoots him dead. The citizens of Earth reject military rule permanently, allowing the pilots to destroy their surviving Gundams.
