Story

Synopsis

Three centuries after the catastrophic Calamity War, Mars languishes under the oppressive economic thumb of terrestrial power blocs. Working for a corrupt private security contractor, disenfranchised teenage orphan Mikazuki Augus and his charismatic comrade Orga Itsuka endure grueling military abuse. When adult commanders cowardly abandon them during a brutal military crackdown, Orga leads a daring mutiny, founding the independent mercenary outfit Tekkadan. Tasked with escorting aristocratic Martian independence advocate Kudelia Aina Bernstein to Earth, Mikazuki activates the ancient relic Gundam Barbatos via his surgical Alaya-Vijnana spine implant, waging relentless warfare against corrupt terrestrial forces.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Produced by legendary mecha studio Sunrise, *Kidou Senshi Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans* premiered on Japanese television in autumn 2015. Directed by Tatsuyuki Nagai with series composition by acclaimed screenwriter Mari Okada, the twenty-five episode series departed from traditional beam-weapon combat, emphasizing visceral kinetic melee warfare and heavy physical impact. The gritty coming-of-age military drama was widely celebrated by critics and franchise devotees for its poignant examination of child soldiers, class disparity, found-family loyalty, and Masaru Yokoyama's evocative orchestral soundtrack.
