Story

Synopsis

In this introspective standalone story, marksman Daisuke Jigen finds himself contemplating the rapid passage of time and his place within a rapidly modernizing underworld. While sourcing custom revolvers and ammunition in a quiet city, Jigen notices that automated surveillance, modern polymer firearms, and digital drone warfare are rendering traditional gunslingers obsolete. Despite temptations to retire peacefully, Jigen is drawn into an armed confrontation, proving that his peerless quick-draw instincts remain sharper than any machine. Standing beside his partner Arsene Lupin III, Jigen reaffirms his lifelong loyalty, savoring a quiet drink with an old friend.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Aired in October 2021 as Episode 0 of the sixth television series, *Lupin the Third Part 6: The Times* served as an official farewell tribute to legendary voice actor Kiyoshi Kobayashi. Kobayashi had voiced Daisuke Jigen continuously since the 1969 pilot film, standing as the last remaining member of the original voice cast. Produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsha and directed by Eiji Suganuma, the contemplative, dialogue-driven episode honored Kobayashi fifty-year legacy, poignantly passing the torch to successor Akio Otsuka.
