Synopsis
Ancient cuneiform clay tablets unearthed beneath Manhattan provide tantalizing archaeological clues to the legendary Tower of Babel, rumored to be constructed entirely out of pure solid gold. Arsene Lupin III sets off on a wild treasure hunt, but finds himself pursued by ruthless Mafia godfather Marciano, a squad of international beauty-contest police officers, and persistent Inspector Zenigata. Aided by an eccentric elderly bag lady named Rosetta who sings cryptic drunken Babylonian rhymes, Lupin, Jigen, and Goemon follow astronomical clues across continents, uncovering an unexpected extraterrestrial origin behind the ancient golden monument.

Released theatrically in July 1985, this third *Lupin III* feature film was co-directed by legendary anime auteur Seijun Suzuki and Shigetsugu Yoshida at Tokyo Movie Shinsha. Infused with Suzuki signature surreal avant-garde filmmaking techniques, slapstick absurdity, and vibrant pop-art color styling, the production stands apart from more grounded franchise outings. Featuring a memorable vocal theme song by Naoko Ken and animated by veteran animators, the film remains a distinctive cult oddity celebrated for its uninhibited cartoon energy and eccentric humor.
