Synopsis
Gentleman thief Arsene Lupin III, his marksman partner Daisuke Jigen, and Inspector Koichi Zenigata travel to a remote Japanese shrine to attend the traditional wedding of samurai Goemon Ishikawa XIII to Murasaki Suminawa. The ceremony is violently disrupted by the Fuma clan, an ancient league of masked shadow ninjas who assault the sanctuary to steal the Suminawa family's antique urn. When Murasaki's grandfather refuses to surrender the heirloom, the Fuma kidnap Murasaki as a hostage, demanding the urn as ransom to unlock a legendary subterranean treasure hidden beneath Mount Fuji.
⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Goemon and Lupin pursue the Fuma clan into a cavernous labyrinth beneath Mount Fuji, navigating lethal spike traps and hall-of-mirrors illusions. They discover that the legendary Suminawa treasure is not gold or jewelry, but a magnificent palace made entirely of solid gold tiles that rapidly crumbles when the cavern's structural support collapses. Goemon slays the treacherous Fuma leader in a decisive rooftop duel, safely rescuing Murasaki. Believing his dangerous lifestyle would bring Murasaki continuous peril, Goemon calls off their marriage, embarking on an ascetic training pilgrimage while Murasaki vows to faithfully await his return.
