Synopsis

Following a catastrophic airplane disaster, a devastated girl named Kurumi sinks into catatonic depression inside her quiet Kyoto residence. Desperate to restore her desire to live, her family commissions an advanced therapy android named Q01 to assume the appearance and personality of her deceased partner Hal. The gentle robot visits Kurumi every afternoon, patiently attempting to bridge the emotional void through handmade rubik's cube messages and shared daily routines. Although Kurumi initially rejects the synthetic presence, the mechanical companion gradually pieces together their complicated past while helping her rediscover purpose.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
The heartbreaking narrative twist reveals that Kurumi did not survive the plane crash; it was Hal who survived and suffered a severe psychological collapse from survivor's guilt. Unable to process his lover's death, Hal fell into a dissociative fugue state believing he was the android Q01 tasked with curing Kurumi. His therapist and grandfather staged the entire domestic scenario using a surrogate patient to allow Hal to confront his grief. When the illusion finally shatters, Hal weeps for Kurumi and finally resolves to continue living in her memory.
