Directed by Kunihiko Yuyama and produced by Kaname Productions in 1986, this tragic fantasy epic was scripted by renowned sci-fi author Keisuke Fujikawa with character designs by Mutsumi Inomata. Departing sharply from contemporary fantasy adventures, the film presents an uncompromising anti-war tragedy modeled on Romeo and Juliet, where petty ambition and nationalistic hubris annihilate all romance and happiness. The haunting orchestral soundtrack composed by Kazuhiko Katou elevates the devastating emotional weight of its climax.
