Vampire Hunter D
吸血鬼〈バンパイア〉ハンターD · 1985
A brooding half-vampire hunter protects a frontier village from bloodthirsty nobility.
Synopsis
Ten thousand years into a post-nuclear future, civilization has devolved into a gothic wasteland where mutated monstrosities roam and feudal vampire lords rule over defenseless human hamlets. When young farm girl Doris Lang is bitten by the ancient, sadistic vampire patriarch Count Magnus Lee, she is marked to become his eternal bride. Desperate to escape damnation, Doris hires D, a stoic wandering dhampir hunter armed with a cybernetic left hand and a razor-sharp broadsword. Infiltrating the Count's booby-trapped castle, D battles mutant assassins, demonic retainers, and the Count himself to save Doris's humanity.

It's an awful, awful OAV, but in case I haven't made it clear enough already, it's just so damn entertaining . It's a poorly executed, noisy, garish mess, filled with the kind of awful accents you'd expect when people are trying to sound vaguely Romanian despite not even being remotely close to it.
Read full reviewIt would be unfair to say, though, that there is nothing good about Hunter D at all. There are some scenes that are rather repellent in their goriness, and the ending animation is actually quite impressive, especially given the age of this title. On balance, however, the film fails to do exactly what a horror film is supposed to do: horrify.
