Synopsis
Rokuro Enmado was once a prodigy exorcist destined for greatness, but abandoned his dreams after the horrific Hiinatsuki Tragedy cost the lives of his childhood peers. His quiet life ends when Benio Adashino, a prodigiously gifted exorcist girl from Kyoto, literally falls from the sky into his arms. The two are summoned before the Exorcist Union and given a staggering revelation: they are the Twin Star Exorcists, prophesied to marry and give birth to the Miko, the supreme spiritual warrior destined to cleanse the parallel demon realm of Magano and eradicate all monstrous Kegare.
Background (may contain spoilers)
Produced by Studio Pierrot and directed by Tomohisa Taguchi, *Sousei no Onmyouji* adapts the supernatural action manga created by Yoshiaki Sukeno, serialized in Jump SQ. Airing on TV Tokyo from April 2016 to March 2017 for 50 episodes, the series was praised for its stylish visual design, featuring high-contrast scarlet and black aesthetics during Magano combat dimensions. The production featured dynamic swordplay, explosive talismanic magic effects, and an evolving romantic dynamic between Rokuro and Benio. With an energetic rock soundtrack by Mikio Endo, the anime provided a lengthy, satisfying modern shonen exorcist adventure.
