Synopsis

In the prosperous American megalopolis of Russell City, malicious demonic entities known as Horrors secretly possess emotionally vulnerable humans to feast on living souls. Sword, a burly, motorcycle-riding Makai Knight who wields the sacred Golden Armor of Garo, hunts these nocturnal abominations in secret. During a deadly skirmish, Sword overhears a dying Horror utter the cryptic keyword El Dorado, the only clue regarding a shadowy conspiracy. Soon encountering Sophie Hennet, an orphaned teenage girl searching for her missing brother associated with the same word, Sword agrees to protect her as they unravel El Dorado's sinister secret.

Animated by studio MAPPA and directed by Sunghoo Park in his directorial debut, *Garo: Vanishing Line* premiered in October 2017, spanning 24 episodes. Deviating from previous medieval and fantasy anime entries in the live-action Garo tokusatsu franchise created by Keita Amemiya, this series embraced an American superhero comic aesthetic and vibrant urban neon-noir settings. Park's signature dynamic action choreography, fluid hand-to-hand martial arts combat, and explosive motorcycle chase sequences earned immense acclaim among action anime enthusiasts, setting a high standard for contemporary supernatural action spectacles.
