Story

Synopsis

Meliodas and Hawk are searching for a rare ingredient called sky fish when they end up at a palace floating above the clouds, home to winged people called Celestials. The residents are preparing a ceremony meant to protect their home from a beast that wakes once every 3,000 years. Before the ritual is finished, the Six Knights of Black, an army of the Demon Clan, break the seal on the beast. The remaining Seven Deadly Sins and the Celestials have to fight side by side.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
The Seven Deadly Sins the Movie: Prisoners of the Sky is an original story by Nakaba Suzuki, creator of the manga, set after the Sins and Princess Elizabeth bring peace back to Britannia. A-1 Pictures produced it as a follow-up to the TV anime. Noriyuki Abe, known for Bleach, directed, and Makoto Uezu wrote the script. Yuki Kaji voices Meliodas, Sora Amamiya voices Elizabeth and Misaki Kuno voices Hawk. The film opened in Japan in August 2018 in 271 theaters and took fifth place on its opening weekend with about 196 million yen. It reached South Korea in November 2018 and streamed worldwide on Netflix on December 31, 2018.
