Story

Synopsis

Set during the return voyage from planet Iscandar after securing the Cosmo Reverse System to restore Earth's poisoned biosphere, the crew of the Space Battleship Yamato encounters the Gatlantis Empire, a ruthless nomadic warrior armada led by Commander Goran Dagarm. Attacked in uncharted space, Captain Juzo Okita steers Yamato into a dense hyperspace void to evade destruction. Trapped inside a surreal pocket dimension dominated by Shambleau, a mysterious paradise planet inhabited by the ancient witch Gutaba, the human crew finds themselves stranded alongside their bitter Gamilas enemies under a fragile, temporary truce.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
The paradise planet Shambleau is revealed to be an ancient autonomous terraforming vessel created by the extinct Akerian civilization, which traps starships to harvest biological life. Dagarm's Gatlantis battlecruiser breaches the pocket dimension, attempting to annihilate both Yamato and the Gamilas fleet. Officer Susumu Kodai and Gamilas commander Fommel Berger pool their tactical strategies and combined firepower, unleashing Yamato's Wave Motion Gun and Gamilas torpedoes to obliterate Dagarm's flagship. Having forged mutual respect, Berger's fleet salutes Yamato, allowing the human crew to resume their triumphant journey toward home planet Earth.
