Synopsis

On Tanegashima island in the near-future year 2019, Kaito Yashio is an indifferent high schooler completely obsessed with fighting games, barely paying attention to the Central Tanegashima High School Robot Research Club run by his childhood friend Akiho Senomiya. Akiho passionately dreams of completing the club's colossal two-story walking giant robot, the GunBuild-1, to carry on her sister's legacy. However, Kaito's quiet days vanish when he stumbles upon an encrypted augmented-reality document known as the Kimijima Report, which reveals a clandestine global conspiracy orchestrating catastrophic solar storm weaponization to depopulate Earth.

“Robotics;Notes has trouble holding even lightweight ideas up on its shaky little plastic legs, much less its more complex aspirations. There are good characters in this show, good moments, and strong episodes. It's just too bad that they're islands floating in a placid sea of boredom punctuated by typhoons of stupidity.”
