Foundation's ruler Aura Maha Khybine and her elite Black Knight Squad are revealed to be genetically engineered Accord superhumans who seek to enforce Gilbert Durandal's Destiny Plan upon humanity. Aura uses mental control to frame Kira for attacking nuclear facilities, capturing Lacus to legitimize their planetary dictatorship. Athrun and Shinn rescue Kira from despair. Piloting the upgraded Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam, Kira reunites with Lacus in the cockpit. Together, they deploy the Dis-ruptor beam to vaporize Foundation's superweapons, annihilate the Black Knights, and reaffirm freedom and love over genetic determinism.
