Synopsis

In the late twenty-first century, humanity begins colonizing outer space, only to encounter the Wulgaru, a merciless alien civilization intent on harvesting human genetic resources. To counter the extraterrestrial invasion, Earth military trains genetically modified children into pilots for advanced combat mecha known as AHSMB units. Among them is Team Rabbits, a quirky quintet notoriously nicknamed the Fail Five due to abysmal teamwork scores. Led by optimistic manga enthusiast Izuru Hitachi, the young pilots must overcome personal flaws, harmonize their unique piloting traits, and master defensive tactics to hold the frontlines.

Background (may contain spoilers)

Airing twenty-four episodes from April to September 2013, *Majestic Prince* was co-produced by Doga Kobo and Orange, under the direction of Keitaro Motonaga. Featuring character designs by Hisashi Hirai and intricate 3D mecha combat choreography animated by Orange, the series earned strong praise from mecha enthusiasts for its thrilling, high-speed space dogfights. Balanced with warm character comedy and a stirring orchestral soundtrack composed by Toshiyuki Watanabe, the show delivered a memorable modern space opera.

“Overall it is easy to see that Majestic Prince is trying. At this point whether or not it succeeds is up to the tastes of the individual viewer, but with the vague but troubling sensation that things could go wrong at any moment, there is enough to keep us watching.”
