Synopsis

Attending Seiso Academy, a prestigious school divided into a standard academic curriculum and an elite music department, ordinary general education student Kahoko Hino has never played an instrument. Her quiet life shifts when she encounters Lili, a mischievous musical fairy visible only to her. Lili gifts Kahoko an enchanted violin that plays beautiful music as long as the performer plays from the heart. Thrust into the school elite music competition alongside handsome virtuoso musicians, Kahoko must confront stage fright, severe peer scrutiny, and her own artistic honesty, learning to genuinely love classical music.

Background (may contain spoilers)

Broadcasting twenty-five episodes from October 2006 to March 2007 on TV Tokyo, *La corda d'oro: primo passo* was produced by Yumeta Company and directed by Kimi Kojima. Based on the popular otome romance video game franchise developed by Koei Ruby Party brand, the anime was praised for its educational classical music curation, featuring real orchestral recordings of Bach, Schubert, and Chopin. With elegant character animation and mature romantic development, the show remains a classic within classical music anime.
