Synopsis

Emotionally detached high schooler Narumi Fujishima lives an aimless life until classmate Ayaka Shinozaki introduces him to the Hanamaru ramen shop. On the building's third floor resides Alice, an eccentric shut-in detective surrounded by computer monitors, soft drinks, and plush teddy bears. Defining herself as a NEET detective who speaks for the dead, Alice enlists Narumi as her field assistant. Supported by a colorful brotherhood of unemployed urban specialists, Narumi investigates dangerous drug rings, missing persons, and underground syndicate conspiracies, discovering the heavy emotional costs hidden beneath Tokyo's glittering streets.

Background (may contain spoilers)

Directed by Shin Oonuma and animated by J.C.Staff, *Heaven's Memo Pad* is a 2011 mystery television anime adaptation based on the light novel series *Kamisama no Memochou* written by Hikaru Sugii. Broadcast for 12 episodes between July and September 2011, the production featured series composition by Seishi Minakami and character designs adapted from Mel Kishida's illustrations by Kenji Saetoh. The series gained praise for its atmospheric urban aesthetic, stylish sound design, and grounded exploration of youth alienation.
