Biography
Shigeru Nishiyama is a Japanese film editor who has cut some of the most-watched TV anime of the last two decades. Born in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture, he began his editing career at the post-production house Tabac, where he worked heavily on Toei Animation productions [1]. In March 2006 he struck out on his own, founding the editing studio Real-Ti, where he still serves as representative director and lead editor [1]. Through Real-Ti he has become a go-to editor for several of the industry's busiest studios, cutting long-running franchises for J.C.Staff, A-1 Pictures, and Bones, and handling editing on multiple Mamoru Hosoda films [1]. His television credits include Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, the Sword Art Online franchise, A Certain Magical Index, Food Wars!, and Blood Blockade Battlefront, alongside earlier work on Revolutionary Girl Utena and Soul Eater [1][2]. His name appears in the credits of well over 300 anime productions spanning from the early 1990s to the present [2].
