Story

Synopsis

In 2600 BC, humanity faces imminent cosmic extinction caused by a temporal anomaly in ancient Mesopotamia. Ritsuka Fujimaru, the final remaining master of the Chaldea Security Organization, rayshifts to the mythical Seventh Singularity alongside his loyal demi-servant shielder, Mash Kyrielight. Arriving in the ancient city of Uruk, they discover the legendary Wise King Gilgamesh commanding humanity's final defensive stronghold against the demonic Three Goddess Alliance. To secure the Holy Grail and restore human history, Ritsuka, Mash, and heroic legendary spirits wage apocalyptic warfare against primeval mother goddess Tiamat and her swarming hordes of subterranean demonic beasts.

CloverWorks animated this epic twenty-one-episode television adaptation, broadcast between October 2019 and March 2020. Directed by Toshifumi Akai, with character designs by Tomoaki Takase, the series adapts Kinoko Nasu's acclaimed Babylonia chapter from Type-Moon's blockbuster mobile game *Fate/Grand Order*. The production stands as a benchmark of modern digital hand-drawn action animation, recruiting elite web-generation animators to choreograph colossal supernatural clashes. With an orchestral score by Ryo Kawasaki and Keita Haga, the series received massive critical acclaim for its grand mythological scale, emotional character sacrifices, and breathtaking cinematic battles.
