Synopsis

Three years after college student Keiichi Morisato accidentally summoned the gentle Nordic goddess Belldandy to grant his wish for a lifelong companion, the couple lives happily at the Tarikihongan Temple alongside goddess sisters Urd and Skuld. Their domestic tranquility is shattered when Belldandy's former celestial mentor, Celestin, escapes from an imperial lunar prison. Arriving on Earth, Celestin uses forbidden memory-erasing magic to wipe Belldandy's recollections of Keiichi, aiming to use her pure divine energy to overthrow the celestial computer Yggdrasil and create a new universal order free from divine hierarchy.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Keiichi refuses to abandon Belldandy, undertaking a perilous celestial motorcycle trial to reach her quarantined spirit. When Celestin infects Yggdrasil with a digital virus to merge Earth and Heaven into a single chaotic plane, Keiichi's pure devotion helps Belldandy regain her buried memories of their love. Belldandy and her sisters sing a divine purifying hymn that halts the dimensional collapse. Realizing that true universal love already exists in Keiichi and Belldandy's bond, Celestin accepts judgment and surrenders peacefully, leaving the young couple to reaffirm their eternal romantic promise on Earth.
