The Irregular at Magic High School Watch Order: Seasons, Movies and Specials in Order, in order
“Every Mahouka season, film and special in release order, with the skippable shorts flagged.”
Tatsuya Shiba is officially a failure and unofficially the most dangerous student in school. His watch order, thankfully, is much less contradictory. There are 14 titles on Lifehaki, and release order works for all of them.
The main line is short. Watch Season 1 (2014), then the film The Girl Who Summons the Stars (2017), then Visitor Arc, which is the second season (2020). Next come the Reminiscence Arc special (2021) and Season 3 (2024), then the Yotsuba Succession Arc film from 2026. A Part 2 is listed too, but its format and release date haven't been confirmed.
So what about the rest? Answer: everything else is optional or skippable. The Honor Student is a spin-off series adapted from a manga, so it's optional if you want more of the cast. The tiny comedy shorts, the Mameshiba commercials, the anniversary PV and the New Year greetings are skippable. Think of them as study notes: fun, never on the exam.
At the end: Season 1, the film, Visitor Arc, Reminiscence Arc, Season 3, then the Yotsuba Succession film.
Season 1 (2014-2015)
Six 3-minute comedy shorts that ran alongside Season 1 in 2014.
Start here. Miyuki enters the elite course while her brother Tatsuya lands in the reserve course. 26 episodes, April to September 2014.
A 3-minute comedy special from February 2015.
The film and Visitor Arc (2017-2020)
A 1 hour 30 minute film from June 2017, set during the spring vacation after the first year.
The story takes place after Tatsuya and Miyuki's first year, so it fits after Season 1. It's a standalone film, so it's optional.
The second TV season. 13 episodes, fall 2020.
Visitor Arc is the second TV season, even though Lifehaki's catalog doesn't number it that way. It follows Season 1 and the film.
Spin-off and Reminiscence Arc (2021)
A 1-minute anniversary PV from July 2021.
A spin-off series adapted from a manga, by studio Connect. 13 episodes, summer 2021.
This is a spin-off, so the main story doesn't depend on it. Watch it if you want more time with the cast.
A 1 hour 11 minute TV special from December 2021.
Season 3 and beyond (2024 onward)
A 1-minute special from November 2024.
Two short New Year's greeting clips, under a minute each, from 2024 and 2025.
A 1 hour 43 minute film from May 2026 adapting the Yotsuba Succession Arc.
Listed for 2026. Its format and release date haven't been confirmed.
