Story
Synopsis
D is a dhampir, half human and half vampire, hired by a wealthy family to recover a daughter taken by a powerful vampire lord. Competing against a team of professional bounty hunters chasing the same contract, D crosses a gothic wasteland where the vampire nobility's decaying empire still holds considerable power. The pursuit turns out to complicate the initial premise substantially, since the abduction may not have been an abduction, and D's own dual nature keeps him from ever fully belonging on either side. Every alliance shifts as the contract's real terms gradually become clear.

Directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri and adapted from Hideyuki Kikuchi's novel series, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust was produced with international distribution in mind and recorded in English first, which was unusual for its era.
