Story

Synopsis

The conflict between humanity and the Buff Clan reaches its conclusion as the Ideon, an ancient machine powered by a force nobody understands and nobody can control, responds to the escalating violence around it. The film delivers what the truncated television series could not: an ending in which essentially the entire cast, on both sides, is killed, and the universe itself is reset by a power indifferent to who deserved to survive. It is uncompromising to a degree almost nothing else in the medium approaches.

Directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino following Space Runaway Ideon's premature cancellation, Be Invoked provided the conclusion the television series never reached, and its total annihilation of the cast has become legendary. Tomino, the creator of Gundam, earned the nickname Kill Em All Tomino largely through this work. The film's apocalyptic ending directly influenced later anime including Neon Genesis Evangelion, and it remains a foundational reference point for creators willing to end a story with genuine, unmitigated destruction. Its total annihilation of the cast remains genuinely without equal in the medium.
