Synopsis
On the brink of conquering the fantasy continent of Ente Isla, Demon Lord Satan Jacob is forced into a desperate retreat when heroic crusader Emilia Justina breaches his stronghold. Escaping through a dimensional portal alongside his general Alciel, Satan crash-lands in modern-day Tokyo. Stripped of their magical powers in this unfamiliar realm, the demonic overlords face a ruthless modern enemy: the cost of living. Adopting the human name Sadao Maou, the former dark lord rents a tiny six-tatami apartment and secures a part-time crew job at the fast-food chain MgRonald's. Determined to conquer corporate retail, Maou's peaceful customer service career is upended when Hero Emilia tracks him down, working at a nearby call center.

This is not a strong four stars but to call this show average would be a disservice to it. For all its problems, this is definitely better one of the better series of the year.

Smart and finely balanced; calculated yet seemingly effortless; funny and self-deprecating and secretly substantial. In short: great, guilt-free fun.

A devil of a first act and a hell of a comedy wrapped in a sinfully sloppy package.
