Following the catastrophic arrival of the Black Night Meteorite, monstrous alien creatures known as D2s emerged across the globe, driven to violent frenzy by melodies and forcing humanity to banish all music. To combat this threat, young women harboring the spirits of classical compositions became Musicarts, guided by human Conductors. In a devastated post-apocalyptic America, prodigy pianist Takt Asahina partners with Destiny, a fiercely determined Musicart born from Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. Together with their guardian Anna Schneider, the duo journeys across perilous wastelands toward New York, waging ferocious musical battles to reclaim human culture.
Background (may contain spoilers)
Co-animated by powerhouse studios MAPPA and Madhouse, *Takt Op. Destiny* is an original multimedia television project conceived by Bandai Namco Arts and DeNA. Directed by Yuuki Itoh with music scored by Yoshihiro Ike, the 12-episode anime aired in autumn 2021 as a narrative prologue to a mobile role-playing game. Character designer LAM provided sharp, fashionable aesthetics, which were translated into fluid, high-octane animation sequences during musical combat scenes. The production received praise for its creative use of historical classical orchestral compositions as kinetic battle choreography, providing a visual spectacle for action fans.
