Story

Synopsis

Following their blockbuster cinematic theatrical release, the chibi news anchors return to the studio to dissect the augmented reality revolution in *Ordinal Scale*. In their lovable super-deformed avatars, Kirito and Asuna host a hilarious post-movie recap, playfully poking fun at Kirito's terrible real-world fitness, the fashion trends of the Augma headset, and the overwhelming popularity of virtual idol Yuna. Klein, Agil, and the rest of the gang drop into the studio to complain about their limited movie screen time and near-fatal boss encounters. The special delivers delightful meta-humor and heartwarming laughs for devoted home video collectors.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Bundled exclusively as a bonus short with the Japanese Blu-ray and DVD release of the theatrical feature film *Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale* in September 2017, this comedy special was animated by A-1 Pictures. Continuing the cherished *Sword Art Offline* tradition, the short used simplified chibi deformation and self-referential writing to parody the movie's high-tech augmented reality premises. The playful release offered voice actors Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Haruka Tomatsu an opportunity to share witty, lighthearted banter with fans.
