Story

Synopsis

In a fantasy realm where humans and demons are at war, the terrifying Demon King Tasogare abducts human princess Syalis, locking her inside his imposing demonic fortress to demand human surrender. However, the captive princess cares nothing about geopolitical warfare, political rescue, or royal honor. Her singular, all-consuming obsession is achieving the perfect night of restful sleep. Treating her prison cell like a luxury hotel, Syalis casually breaks out every night, shearing sacred holy shrouds, slaughtering demon guards for pillow stuffing, and fashioning luxury beddings that leave her demonic captors completely terrified and financially ruined.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Doga Kobo animated this twelve-episode fantasy comedy series, which aired during the fall 2020 season. Directed by Mitsue Yamazaki and scripted by Yoshiko Nakamura, the anime adapts Kagiji Kumanomata's popular manga serialized in *Weekly Shounen Sunday*. Renowned voice actress Inori Minase delivered an unforgettable deadpan comedic performance as Princess Syalis. The production earned glowing praise for its exquisite slapstick timing, adorable teddy-demon character animation, and inventive situational humor, becoming a runaway fan-favorite comedy that brilliantly subverted classic damsel-in-distress fairy tale tropes with sheer slumber-seeking ruthlessness.
