Yoshino Koharu is an anxious college graduate desperate to secure an elite corporate career in glamorous Tokyo. Facing dozens of job rejections, she accepts a one-day gig as the promotional tourism monarch for Manoyama, a quiet rural town facing depopulation. Upon arriving, Yoshino discovers that a bureaucratic clerical error has committed her to an entire year of leadership. Reluctantly stepping into the royal crown of the fictional Kingdom of Chupacabra, Yoshino teams up with four local young women. Together, they launch quirky cultural festivals, traditional craft revitalizations, and tourism campaigns to save the fading community.

P.A. Works produced this original twenty-five-episode slice-of-life anime series, which aired throughout the spring and summer 2017 seasons. Directed by Soichi Masui and written by Masahiro Yokotani, the show served as the third installment in the studio's celebrated Working Series trilogy, following *Hanasaku Iroha* and *Shirobako*. Featuring expressive character designs by BUNBUN and a jaunty soundtrack by (K)NoW_NAME, the production offered a grounded, heartfelt exploration of regional decline in rural Japan, celebrating youth empowerment, local historical preservation, and realistic community redevelopment efforts.
