Synopsis
This film recaps the opening stretch of Madoka Kaname's story, following her encounter with Kyubey, the offer of any wish in exchange for becoming a magical girl, and the increasingly horrifying reality behind that arrangement. Homura Akemi's warnings make no sense until they do, and Sayaka's decision demonstrates exactly what the contract costs. The theatrical format tightens the pacing and adds new animation, presenting the material for audiences encountering the deconstruction for the first time on a bigger canvas. Every reveal reframes what the previous episode appeared to establish.
