Raku Ichijo is an earnest high school student who desires nothing more than a peaceful, law-abiding career as a civil servant, despite being the sole heir to the Shuei-gumi yakuza syndicate. Around his neck, Raku wears a locked pendant, a precious keepsake from a childhood promise ten years ago with a mysterious girl whose key could open it. Raku's peaceful life is shattered when the American Bee Hive mafia family arrives in the city. To prevent an all-out gang war, Raku and the mafia boss's daughter, the fiery blonde Chitoge Kirisaki, are forced to pretend to be lovers for three years, despite despising each other from their very first encounter.

Nisekoi: False Love adapts the mega-popular romantic comedy manga by Naoshi Komi, serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shounen Jump. Produced by renowned studio Shaft with chief direction by Akiyuki Shinbo and direction by Naoyuki Tatsuwa, the anime aired in Winter 2014. Distinguished by Shaft's avant-garde visual flourishes, colorful character interactions, and a powerhouse female voice cast, the series was one of the defining romantic comedy anime of the 2010s, resulting in OVAs, video games, and a second television season.
You've seen this kind of harem romantic comedy a thousand times before, but you've never seen it done with the easy confidence and eye-catching presentation of Nisekoi.
Its visually engaging and broadly funny, but these episodes are lacking a little of the Nisekoi magic thanks to its focus on introducing new cast members.
Beautiful-looking, but tedious and home to a cast of frankly awful people. Probably a four-star rating (at least) for fans of the genre and for diehard SHAFT aficionados.
