Synopsis
Ken Kazaki is a cheerful, baseball-loving elementary school boy who receives a mysterious toy known as a Talispod from his eccentric inventor father. When evil corporate agents belonging to the Dark Wiz Company attempt to steal the device, Ken accidentally activates it, reviving Shiron the Windragon, a legendary, prideful winged dragon beast from ancient slumber. Ken discovers that mythical elemental creatures known as Legendz once roamed Earth before being sealed into soul dolls. Alongside his classmates, Ken must summon allied Legendz to protect the planet from shadowy syndicates seeking to trigger an apocalyptic Legendz war.
Background (may contain spoilers)
Produced by studio Gallop and directed by Akitaro Daichi, *Legendz: Yomigaeru Ryuuou Densetsu* is a 50-episode television anime created as a major cross-media franchise alongside Bandai's electronic toy line and game releases. Airing on Fuji TV from April 2004 to March 2005, the series was celebrated for director Daichi's signature manic comedic pacing, witty visual gags, and surprisingly poignant ecological themes. The production stood out among monster-battling children's anime for its sharp satirical humor, jazz-infused musical score by Harukichi Yamamoto, and sincere, emotionally resonant character arcs between Ken and Shiron.
