Synopsis

Accompanied by an abrasive, short-tempered blue plush dog named Ioryogi, an innocent and cheerful girl named Kobato Hanato arrives in the human world with a singular mission: to heal emotional suffering. Each time she mends a broken heart, a radiant sweet-like star fills a magical glass bottle, bringing her closer to granting her deeply cherished wish to visit a promised place. Securing employment at a struggling local kindergarten run by dedicated caretaker Sayaka and guarded young worker Fujimoto, Kobato quietly transforms the lives of troubled neighbors through unconditional kindness and gentle empathy.

Background (may contain spoilers)

Produced by Madhouse and directed by Mitsuyuki Masuhara with CLAMP member Nanase Ohkawa supervising scripts, the 2009 television anime *Kobato.* adapts the beloved manga by renowned creator collective CLAMP. Running for twenty-four episodes, the anime was celebrated for its pastel visual palette, heartwarming emotional sincerity, and evocative musical score composed by Megumi Kadokura. Kana Hanazawa gave a breakout vocal performance as Kobato, creating an enduring classic of modern gentle fantasy and iyashikei storytelling.
