Synopsis

Following the bloody campaign to overthrow the Shang dynasty, top divine commander Jiang Ziya stands atop the sacred altar of Mount Kunlun, poised to execute Nine-Tailed Fox Demon Vixen and be elevated as Leader of the Gods. Right before delivering the fatal blow, Jiang Ziya notices an innocent mortal girl's soul trapped inside the beast's spiritual core. Hesitating out of compassion, Ziya allows the Fox Demon to slip away. Stripped of his divine powers by the Revered Master and banished to the desolate North Sea for ten years, Ziya embarks on a redemptive quest.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Jiang Ziya discovers that the mortal girl Xiao Jiu's soul was artificially fused to the Nine-Tailed Fox by the Revered Master himself as part of a clandestine celestial conspiracy to instigate the Shang war and consolidate supreme heavenly rule. When the Master orders Xiao Jiu destroyed to conceal his corruption, Ziya shatters his divine staff, rejects godhood, and severs the Golden Staircase connecting Heaven and Earth, permanently breaking heaven's despotic control over mortal destinies. Ziya is imprisoned in the Divine Realm, but human mortals across the land are finally freed to forge their own fate.
