Story

Synopsis

Dying from sheer exhaustion as an overworked Japanese corporate employee, Azusa Aizawa receives a second chance from a benevolent goddess, reincarnating as an unaging witch in a tranquil highlands cottage. Determined never to overwork again, she lives a peaceful lifestyle, sustaining her modest needs by hunting twenty slimes a day for pocket money. Three centuries later, simple arithmetic catches up with her: the accumulated experience points max out her combat parameters to level ninety-nine. When rumors of the world's strongest witch leak out, dragons, energetic apprentice elves, and demons arrive at her door, disrupting her solitary retirement.

Based on Kisetsu Morita's popular slice-of-life light novel series illustrated by Benio, this fantasy comedy was produced by studio Revoroot under the direction of Nobukage Kimura. Broadcasting twelve episodes in spring 2021, the television anime delighted audiences with its soothing pastoral backgrounds, warm pastel color palette, and humorous found-family dynamic featuring voice talents Aoi Yuuki and Kaede Hondo. Its enthusiastic reception led to multiple manga spin-offs and the greenlighting of a second television season.
