Synopsis

In a world where mythical creatures known as demi-humans or Demi have gradually integrated into human society, high school biology teacher Tetsuo Takahashi has long held a passionate fascination with their unique biology. His dream comes true when four Demi enroll and work at his school: a boisterous vampire girl, a shy dullahan carrying her detached head, a reserved snow woman, and a timid succubus colleague. Rather than treating them like freaks or mythical curiosities, Takahashi conducts thoughtful personal interviews with each of them, offering practical advice and empathetic emotional support to help them overcome adolescent social alienation.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
A-1 Pictures animated this twelve-episode comedy series, which aired during the winter 2017 season. Directed by Ryou Andou and scripted by Takao Yoshioka, the anime faithfully adapts the popular manga created by Petos. Character designs were provided by Tetsuya Kawakami, with an upbeat soundtrack composed by Masaru Yokoyama. The anime earned widespread praise for its warm humanist themes, respectful handling of physical differences, and genuine focus on social accessibility. By approaching supernatural conditions as metaphors for real-world teenage insecurities, disabilities, and minor social anxieties, the series delivered an exceptionally thoughtful slice-of-life story.
