Synopsis
In a dystopian era where youth soccer is strictly controlled and match-fixed by the totalitarian organization Fifth Sector, Matsukaze Tenma and the newly reformed Raimon Junior High soccer team fight to restore free, joyful soccer. In retaliation for their rebellion, Fifth Sector exiles Raimon to God Eden, a perilous training island in the South Seas operated by the ruthless commander Kibayama. There, Raimon is challenged by Team Zero, an elite superhuman squad captained by Shuu and Hakuryuu, who use devastating avatar spirits to physically brutalize and crush their opponents.
⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Raimon is overwhelmed during the first half, but former legendary captains Mamoru Endo, Kidou, and Fubuki arrive on God Eden to provide spiritual and tactical coaching. Tenma connects emotionally with Shuu, helping the opposing captain realize that soccer was meant to bring joy, not misery. Shuu and Hakuryuu reject Fifth Sector's tyrannical doctrine. Tenma, Shuu, and Hakuryuu combine their avatar spirits to summon the mythical beast Griffon, scoring the definitive equalizer. Fifth Sector's control over God Eden collapses, and Raimon leaves the island having forged an unbreakable bond with their former adversaries.
