Story

Synopsis

Pragmatic middle schooler Yuusuke Yotsuya despises human society and prefers solitary video games over making friends. Without warning, he is pulled into an alternate fantasy world alongside classmates Iu Shindou and Kusue Hakozaki by the half-faced Game Master. To his immense frustration, the randomized job assignment grants him the seemingly useless role of a farmer. With quests carrying strict time limits and catastrophic real-world consequences if the entire party dies, Yuusuke must suppress his antisocial cynicism. Using cold logic, bizarre weapon combinations, and gritty pragmatism, he leads his fragile team through lethal tactical scenarios.

Adapted from the manga written by Naoki Yamakawa and illustrated by Akinari Nao, this dark fantasy anime was animated by Maho Film under the direction of Kumiko Habara. Premiering in October 2020 across twelve episodes, the series stood out among contemporary isekai broadcasts due to its calculating, morally ambiguous protagonist and high-stakes survival mechanics. Its solid streaming performance prompted the production of a second cour that aired in summer 2021.
