Synopsis
Oarai returns to competition in a new tournament with fresh opponents and an unfamiliar bracket, while the school's ongoing existence remains less secure than anyone would like. Miho Nishizumi continues improvising around a squad that is outnumbered in almost every engagement, relying on terrain reading and crew coordination rather than firepower. This first Das Finale installment reintroduces the ensemble, adds new characters to the roster, and sets up a competitive arc that would take the franchise years to fully complete across subsequent films. Every engagement demonstrates why terrain reading matters more than armor thickness.
⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
The opening installment of the Das Finale film series from Actas, this entry launched a continuation released at long intervals across many years, sustained by a fanbase committed enough to keep the property viable throughout. Girls und Panzer is known for unusually rigorous depiction of armored warfare inside a cheerful school competition premise, with historically accurate vehicles and genuine battlefield tactics. That combination earned it credibility with actual tank enthusiasts and remains a formula almost no other anime has attempted to replicate. Its opening installment established the structure the entire film series would follow.
