Story

Synopsis

This chapter covers Shiki Ryougi's two-year coma and the strange, drifting state of consciousness she occupies while unresponsive, alongside the aftermath of waking to find something essential about herself permanently gone. Touko Aozaki's involvement introduces the framework that will govern everything Shiki does afterward, including the origin of her ability to perceive the lines of death. The film is quieter and more interior than the surrounding chapters, dealing with identity loss rather than confrontation. Every scene sits with absence rather than building toward any confrontation at all.
